Turn Around
Terri Gibbs

Released 1987

Singer, songwriter, and pianist Terri Gibbs first caught the public's attention in 1981 with her major hit, "Somebody's Knockin'," which brought her spots on the music charts in both country and pop. Gibbs completed a few other country albums over the next few years, but in the latter half of the '80s she took her talents in a gospel direction with the appropriately titled Turn Around. Since she was raised on Southern gospel music, it was a natural move for her, and fans responded. Just as listeners can hear gospel influences on Gibbs' country albums, you'll find the country influences come through on this gospel recording. The songs on Turn Around earned Gibbs a few more hits to add to her resumé, including "Unconditional Love," "Promised Land," and "Comfort the People." It also gained her a Grammy nomination in 1988. If you can locate this hard to find album, it is well worth a listen. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
