Talkin' 'Bout Men
The Forester Sisters

 Released 1991

The centerpiece of the Forester Sisters' Talkin' 'Bout Men is the novelty hit "Men," a Bonnie Raitt-lite country-pop number with lines like "They all want a girl just like the girl that married dear old dad." Elsewhere, "Step in the Right Direction" crosses the Manhattan Transfer with country swing, while "Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled" supports its gospel-flavored lyrics with a lighthearted reggae rhythm. These stylistic left turns certainly keep the album interesting, and add flavor to the usual mix of upbeat country and tasteful balladry. The Foresters' harmonies and lead vocal turns are strong throughout, and even if it occasionally strays toward adult contemporary (especially on "Somebody Else's Moon"), Talkin' 'Bout Men offers plenty for fans of the group to enjoy. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
