Lefty's Deceiver The Jody Grind |
Released April 03, 1992
By the time the Jody Grind's second record came along, the band were drowning in their own hype, aided by Michael Stipe sightings at their frequent Athens, GA appearances. What started out as a promising career as a neo-lounge band developed into a confusing lite-alternative/jazz/no wave/country experiment produced by percussionist Michael Blair with guitar by Peter Buck on "Third of July." Given a larger budget and proper direction, who knows how the talented band could have grown. Sadly, their career was cut short when two members died in a car crash. ~ Denise Sullivan, All Music Guide
