When You're Hot You're Hot Jerry Reed |
Released 1971 The release of "When You're Hot, You're Hot" found Jerry Reed topping the charts for the first time in 1971. Reed's early albums were consistently good as a whole, in part because of Reed's refusal to be anything but eclectic. Occasionally this skewed defiance manifested itself through an odd choice of pop-oriented cover versions, in this case, Lennon and McCartney's "Thank You Girl" and Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice It's All Right." The highlights of the album include his second hit, "Amos Moses," the instrumental "Turned On," and "Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town," which sounds tailor-made to his delivery. ~ Al Campbell, All Music Guide
