The Definitive Collection Patty Loveless |
Released June 07, 2005
MCA's 2005 release The Definitive Collection runs a generous 22 tracks, mostly taken from Patty Loveless' time at the label in the second half of the '80s, although there are a couple of mid-'90s hits she had on Epic tacked on to the end for good measure ("You Can Feel Bad," "Lonely Too Long"). While this misses many of her biggest hits from the early '90s -- they were all recorded for Epic and fall outside of the licensing restrictions -- this nevertheless is the most generous and thorough Loveless compilation yet assembled, containing the great majority of her big hits for MCA and enough of a teaser with her '90s work to suggest the arc of her carer. Until there's a collection that balances the two labels in equal measure, The Definitive Collection will stand as the best Loveless overview. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
