Released 1995 Comprised of two pre-On Avery Island, distorted psychedelic pop songs and one slice of studio/found-sound pastichery, the re-release of Everything Is (the band's first single), was presumably intended to sate the cravings of Neutral Milk Hotel fans and to shed some light on the genesis of Jeff Mangum's genius. All in all, Everything Is is a fun, tidy little disc that's heavy on the stream-of-consciousness lyrics ("rain is a perfectly sculpted garden of wetness"), and bears more than a passing resemblance to Beck's Stereopathetic Soul Manure. ~ Bryan Carroll, All Music Guide
