One More from the Road, the only live album by the pre-plane-crash Lynyrd Skynyrd, was constructed as a two-LP set in 1976 and never quite worked in the CD era because of its in-between length, too long for one CD, kind of skimpy for two. The first CD version deleted two tracks to fit the album onto a single disc. More recently, there was a "deluxe edition" that offered more material and longer edits of the songs, spread over two CDs. That was the only version of the album in print when Universal Music Group decided to issue a live Lynyrd Skynyrd title as part of its discount-priced best-of series 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection Live. It is really one more abridged version of One More from the Road, this time choosing nine tracks from the deluxe edition to create another shortened album, running nearly 59 minutes. That's not a bad length for a CD retailing for under $10 upon release. But One More from the Road has now been put through so many iterations even a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan might be confused. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
