Released 1971 Me & Jerry is the first of Jerry Reed's collaborations with mentor and label mate Chet Atkins. While Reed would usually include an instrumental or two on his early RCA albums (after all, he was "the Guitar Man"), it was risky to release an exclusively instrumental disc, especially coming off the success of his previous set, Georgia Sunshine. The risk was worth it, as the fans responded positively to these two friends kickin' back and having fun making music together. Both Me & Jerry and the follow-up, Me & Chet, hold up well, and collectors of Chet Atkins especially should seek out these good-natured sessions. ~ Al Campbell, All Music Guide
